EeRS Electronic Referrals

Evonnect provides the functionality to allow Optometrists to make and receive electronic referrals, share images or other referral/diagnostic information such as SD-OCT and for this to be transmitted through a secure electronic platform into a Hospital. Evonnect supports bespoke referral templates for different pathways, and different Hospitals, as well as the GOS18 referral template.

When making a referral, clinical decision support is provided through integration with the SNOME CT database, aiding in identifying and picking the most suitable pathway for the patient on first referral (GIRFT).

Evonnect can be used for Private Insured, Self-Funding and NHS referrals either through a web browser, or through an API with their Practice Management System.

Evonnect is integrated with ERS and any referral made on evonnect uses the DoS to be directed toward any Hospital or RAS service published on ERS across the whole NHS.

This allows a referring clinician (if directly bookable slots are available and published) to be booked at the point of referral, reducing the burden on a hospital booking team and improving patient choice with transparency of time to care and the options available. In cases of onward booking into ERS, then the UBRN is made available in the evonnect record.

This can be further enhanced through a SPOA and the evonnect choice service, where the patient is offered choice through an online booking portal after referral, ensuring provider choice is made agnostic of the provider, with full transparency of time to care and accessibility.
